The Director's Biography

William Olsson was born and raised in Göteborg, Sweden. After obtaining his BA in Literature, Film and Psychology from Stockholm University, William worked as an assistant at various disciplines within the local film industry before managing to get the Swedish Film Institute to finance a short film that he wrote and directed.

With his undergraduate studies behind him, William traveled the World. He lived and worked at a hostel in Berlin for six months, where the idea for "The Traveler" originated. The film has since gone on to win the Festival Director's Award at the Santa Cruz Film Festival 2005 and both the Jury and Audience Award for best feature at the Lake County Film Festival 2006.

A recent MFA graduate of the USC School of Cinema-Television, William's thesis film "ROSA" tells the story of a young girl searching for her lost father in the down-and-out areas of Mexico City. "Rosa" premiered at the Beverly Hills Film Festival in April 2006 and has gone on to play in over 40 film festivals. The film has been voted among the Best of Fest in numerous festivals and it earned William an Imagen Award nomination in 2006.

William is currently in post production for an independent feature entitled "Boy of Pigs".
